2008-2010 GIDRM board elected (Sep 16, 2007)
On Sept 14, during the 2007 National Congress at Verbania, a new GIDRM board was elected. Prof. Stefano Mammi (UNI, Padova) was re-elected to serve another three-year term as chairman. The other elected board members are Dr. Gaetano Barbato (IRBM, Roma), Prof. Daniel Oscar Cicero (UNI, Roma Tor Vergata), Dr. Marco Geppi (UNI, Pisa), Prof. Mario Piccioli (CERM-UNI, Firenze), Dr. Silvia Spera (ENI S.p.A., Novara) and Dr. Enzo Terreno (UNI, Torino). The new board thanks the people who served on the board during the last term and the Election Committee who ran the election this year.
GIDRM-GIRM Gold Medal awarded to Roberto Gobetto (Jun 29, 2007)
The Gruppo Interdivisionale Risonanze Magnetiche (GIRM) of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and the GIDRM have awarded the GIDRM-GIRM Gold Medal 2007 to our member Prof. Roberto Gobetto (University of Torino) for his excellent scientific activity, his dedication to teaching, and his continuing commitment to the Italian NMR societies.
Prof. Gobetto will receive the GIDRM-GIRM Medal during the XXXVII Italian National Congress on Magnetic Resonance. On behalf of the GIDRM members we wish to convey to Roberto our warmest congratulations!

Scuola specialistica di NMR a Torino (Jun 06, 2007)
Siamo arrivati alla chiusura del secondo ciclo delle scuole di NMR organizzate dal GIRM della SCI con la partecipazione del nostro GIDRM. Quest'anno si terrà la seconda scuola specialistica che avrà come argomento "NMR di piccole molecole di interesse organico-farmaceutico" e il cui responsabile scientifico è il nostro socio Stefano Chimichi dell'Università di Firenze. Confidando in una nutrita partecipazione degli interessati, vi preghiamo di scaricare la locandina con tutte le informazioni sulla scuola e sulla sistemazione alberghiera a questo link.

Euromar 2007 deadline approaching! (Jun 01, 2007)
Il nostro collega spagnolo Miquel Pons ci invia il seguente messaggio sollecitando la nostra iscrizione all'EUROMAR 2007, che si terrà a Tarragona (Spagna) dal primo al sei luglio 2007:
"Dear Colleagues, registration deadline to the EUROMAR 2007 conference is approaching. After June 1st there is going to be a late registration fee. Communications received after this date may not reach the abstract book. This may be due to a lack of information to the Italian community. As officials of the GIRMN I would ask you to ensure that the information is distributed to all interested participants so that the Italian participation raises to the level it deserves for its scientific relevance in the field."
I rischi degli esami clinici di MRI (May 25, 2007)
Vi segnaliamo un articolo appena uscito su Progress in NMR:
Magnetic resonance imaging safety issues including an analysis of recorded incidents within the UK.
E' un interessante articolo che tratta i diversi rischi per la salute connessi agli esami MRI, con molti riferimenti bilbliografici. Una utile lettura...anche per sapere cosa rispondere al solito amico che ti chiede "tu che fai NMR...ma davvero non fa male ?".
A new 600 MHz at the University of Verona (May 25, 2007)
Our member Henriette Molinari sent us the following message:
"On June 28th 2007, there will be the inauguration day of the new 600 MHz of the University of Verona. The scientific session will start at 9.45 am and the Nobel Prize Prof. Kurt Wüthrich will give the opening lecture. Many scientists active in the field will participate to the initiative. The event is free and we hope to see here many friends. The program can be found at this link."

NMR position at IRBM (Apr 18, 2007)
Our member Daniel Cicero informs us that a position is open at IRBM for a PhD scientist working in the field of NMR (closing date May 31, 2007).
"The succesful candidate will serve as an expert in spectroscopic analysis using NMR for the medicinal chemistry group in IRBM.
Make innovative contributions to the Medicinal chemistry department by providing solutions to complex structural problems using a sound understanding of chemical theory and knowledge of the current literature and by proactively applying a specific expertise to satisfy project goals.
Exhibit practical skills and knowledge of modern applied high resolution NMR necessary in a pharmaceutical R&D setting, including hands-on experience with instrumentation.
Apply new technologies to improve processes, and demonstrate an ability to use databases, molecular modeling, and library resources in the research and development of new approaches to solving problems.
Be willing to develop self as a resource for NMR analysis for support of synthetic chemistry
Write detailed and high-quality reports of lab work for internal departmental use and external publications."

II Scuola sull'Analisi Metabolomica (Mar 13, 2007)

cui sono Presidente, sta organizzando la Seconda Scuola sull'Analisi
Metabolomica, che si terrà presso il Dipartimento di Chimica
dell'Università "La sapienza" il 4 e 5 giugno prossimi. Tale evento,
alla cui organizzazione già partecipano l'Università "La Sapienza" e
l'Istituto per la Salute e la Protezione del Consumatore della
Commissione Europea, è la prosecuzione dell'iniziativa intrapresa
l'anno scorso con la Prima Scuola e la "First Maga Circe Conference on
Biologica Systems Analysis", che hanno riscosso un notevole successo.

IMPORTANTE! Prosegue l'organizzazione deli XI Chianti Workshop! La lista degli speakers invitati è disponibile sul sito web del Congresso. Per i giovani non strutturati che sono interessati a partecipare al Congresso ma che sono in ristrettezza di budget, sono state istituite alcune borse di studio, con il contributo di alcuni sponsors: Bruker Italiana, Varian Italia e Società Chimica Italiana, Divisione Chimica Inorganica. Gli interessati a queste borse sono caldamente invitati a presentare la loro candidatura, inviando anche un curriculum vitae, alla segreteria del congresso all'indirizzo di posta elettronica chianti11@cerm.unifi.it.
